And it’s the rare facelifted late model.

I must have never seen one on the road before, because I was shocked by how throaty and loud the exhaust was (it looked stock).

A Miata with an enlarged pituitary gland. I like them.

I was browsing my local salvage yards rebuildable listing, and the Jag section made me think of you:

07 XKR Convertible

06 XKR Coupe

06 S-Type R

05 S-Type R

If unfortunate circumstances this year hadn’t already made me dirt poor, I’d probably be car poor.

What were the prices like? I remember seeing a salvage listing for an XK8 that had major front end damage and they were asking something like $4k-$5k and it was sold

Not great, but not terrible, either. (I also have a jaded perspective on severity of damage having worked in collision repair for 20 years, so keep that in mind.)

06 XKR Coupe - 56K miles - $7995 (looks like someone decided they didn’t like silver on black, and had a half-assed red respray done, though).

07 XKR Vert - 75k miles - $11,800 (more miles, no respray, less damage. I honestly think I could drive this back to my shop with a pair of headlights, a bit of hammer work to tuck the left headlight into the fender, and some zipties to fasten the front bumper cover)

06 S Type R - 54K miles - $4900 (front end is stuffed, needs a left rear door. Structural movement has cooling pushed into the front of the motor, probably some expensive hidden surprises in this one).

05 S Type R - 145K miles - $5795 (Clean title, ready to drive away. Listed as a trade-in on another vehicle. I can’t believe how clean the interior is for 145K, the drivers seat leather looks new, but damn that’s a lot of mileage)

If the XKR coupe didn’t have the shitty respray on it, it’d probably be the best buy. The cost of un-fucking that paint job would blow it out of the water, and I can’t stand it when the curtains don’t match the drapes. Based off of the tell-tale signs of laziness I see, the red won’t keep it’s adhesion long, either.

I see that place all the time on Autotrader when searching for XK8s. Yeah, they all need way more work than I’d even be able to do on them, myself. I’m sort of shocked by that last S-Type. I would have thought $6k for a clean S-Type R with 145k was a bit high.
